Micro-X advances CT pipeline, receives milestone payment
Australian medical technology company Micro‑X reported progress across its commercial and development pipelines during the final quarter of the 2026 financial year (FY26). The firm highlighted the start of a human imaging pilot study for its Head CT device at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the receipt of several milestone payments under government‑funded programs.
Clinical Trials and Hospital Pilots
The pilot phase of clinical validation began at Royal Melbourne Hospital. The first stage fine‑tunes algorithms using data from initial human head images captured with the device.

A second stage will recruit more than 100 patients for a blind reading comparing the Micro‑X device against conventional hospital‑based CT scanners.
Construction of a second test bench finished ahead of installation at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This marks the completion of milestones under the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). The company said these milestones triggered a $400,000 payment. Separate progress on the Industry Growth Program work for an ambulance‑mounted Head CT device resulted in a $1.1 million payment. The ambulance project now moves toward vehicle fitment reviews.
Full Body CT and US Security Contracts
The Full Body CT development program reached a milestone by completing the design review, allowing the company to begin manufacturing a full‑sized engineering prototype. This prototype demonstrates core imaging capabilities on physical phantoms and test objects. The review triggered a $1.6 million milestone payment under the development agreement with the US Government’s Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA‑H).
US security programs continued to advance through contracts with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). DHS awarded a $1.3 million contract extension to accelerate software and machine‑learning activities, aiming to enhance checkpoint threat detection. Manufacturing of the second and third checkpoints is complete, with delivery expected to join the first prototype for government evaluation. Officials noted that the resolution of US Government‑wide shutdowns occurred without materially impacting overall timelines.
In May, Micro‑X hosted a visit by senior representatives of the Malaysian Ministry of Health, together with its distributor IMS, at the Tonsley headquarters in Adelaide. The visit followed the successful tender by IMS to supply Micro‑X’s portable X‑ray technology Rover Plus units to the Malaysian Government. Micro‑X said the representatives received detailed briefings on the company’s core technology and future applications. Rover Plus was exhibited at WHX Miami, a major healthcare conference with global customer attendance.
