His career at Compre has spanned multiple jurisdictions and liability classes.

Davin Patel has been appointed chief risk officer, subject to regulatory approvals, while Thuan Ho will succeed Patel as chief actuary, pricing, pending immigration approval.

Patel steps into the CRO role that was previously held by Brid Reynolds, who joined Compre in 2021 and stepped down earlier this year.

Patel joined Compre in 2016 and has been involved in most of the company’s transactions over the past decade, including reserving, capital management, and underwriting due diligence. His career at Compre has spanned multiple jurisdictions and liability classes.

Compre is no longer a pure-play legacy acquirer, according to chief underwriting officer Rachel Bardon. The company’s strategy has shifted towards a broader specialty reinsurer model, including legacy and prospective transactions, as well as capital and claims solutions.

This expansion into new areas means the enterprise risk framework must accommodate different transaction types, various information, pricing assumptions, and tail exposures. Ho’s appointment to chief actuary, pricing, will focus on developing Compre’s prospective pricing capabilities.

Ho, who has been leading actuarial work on M&A transactions since he arrived in 2022, came from Deloitte’s Bermuda practice and has been instrumental in building Compre’s prospective pricing capabilities.

The two promotions continue a period of deliberate leadership investment at Compre. In February 2026, the company named David Atkins as deputy CEO, adding capacity as Compre dealt with a financial reversal while pursuing expansion.

Atkins arrives from a stint as chief operating officer at Premia and brings more than 17 years of experience at legacy specialist Enstar, bolstering the newly created deputy CEO role as the group handles a financial reversal while expanding across North America and Europe.

Graham Taylor was also appointed as managing director of underwriting, expanding the senior team responsible for executing transactions. These appointments suggest a group that is scaling its risk, actuarial, and underwriting infrastructure in parallel.

According to PwC’s H1 2026 run-off market review, there were 13 publicly disclosed deals by six acquirers, with gross liabilities of approximately $780 million, less than half the $1.537 billion seen in H1 2025. Unresolved casualty reserve uncertainty and a softening underwriting cycle have contributed to lengthening deal timelines and raising the bar for pricing discipline.

Compre’s response has been to invest in its people and develop its leadership capability. As Atkins said, “As Compre continues to grow and evolve, investing in our people and developing our leadership capability will remain central to our success. Davin and Thuan have both made significant contributions to the business, and their well-deserved appointments demonstrate the depth of talent we have developed within the group.”
